Experimental standards for advancing in vitro Plasmonic Photothermal Therapy

Our work on in vitro studies for PPTT, in collaboration with Dr. Clara Vilches (ICFO), has been published on ACS Nanoscience Au.

Lack of standardisation in plasmonic photothermal therapy (PPTT) is a significant challenge when comparing data from various studies, which hinders clinical translation of this technique. To address this critical issue, our research presents a comprehensive best practice guide for in vitro PPTT and suggestion of reporting standards. This Perspective covers five aspects that can be easily improved: nanomaterial, biological sample, and pre-, during, and post-irradiation characterization. By applying this checklist, we aim to enhance the reproducibility of PPTT studies and pave the way of PPTT to clinical implementations.
